1) Can we rescanlate your releases into _________ (insert language)?
NO. We do not give permission for any of our releases to be rescanlated. Please respect our wishes, as we would grant you the same respect. If you would like to know why, here is a list of (non-exhaustive) reasons:
a) Staff spends a lot of their time on these releases.
b) To translate from English to ________ will remove the meaning of the actual series even more - not only will it have lost some meaning being translated into English, it will lose more meaning when that English is tranlated into ________.
c) It will be too different from the original.
d) Sfx as well - to then edit out all of our sfx and to then edit in your own further serves to damage the original art.
We will know if you are rescanlating our releases. Scanlation is an art - and it's easy to see if it is stolen - translations included.
2) Okay, so I can't rescanlate into _________. Can You help us with raw scans?
Perhaps. Our answer will vary by series, and by the group that is asking. If you are asking for raws, state the following:
a) Your name
b) Your affiliation (i.e. what scanlation group you work for)
b2) The website/channel of the group
c) Why you need the raws
d) A promise that you will NOT distribute the raws past translators/editors of your group
e) A promise that you will credit Condensation with the following "Scanned for Condensation - www.condensation.us - by (________). Scans used with permission. Distribution prohibited." [We would provide the information between the ()].
3) How can I help?
There are a variety of positions available, and we are currently recruiting the following:
- Scanners of projects on the projects page, current, active and future
- Experienced editors (as we currently do not have the resources to train new editors)
- Translators (Japanese, Chinese and Korean)
- Experienced proofers/QC'ers with references
To apply for any of the above positions, please contact Vanderguard.
4) Can I host ___________ on my manga downloads site?
Perhaps. Do not inquire if you:
a) do not provide your own hosting
b) host via Photobucket or similar online-reading service
c) plan to host via yousendit, rapidshare, myinbox, etc.
Permission to host is ONLY given to sites that host our complete zip(s) and are not ad-supported. Condensation is NOT FOR PROFIT. Not for our own, or for any other companies. Hosting our releases without our permission is a violation of our policy and to host our releases on a service that relies on ad-support is a slap in the face. Please do not do it, and please do not help companies make profit (which, you are doing if you host via an ad-supported service).
If you plan to host our releases on a site that does not violate the above, please provide the following information:
a) Your name
b) Your contact information
c) Your hosting domain/url
d) What series you want to host
We ask that all hosted releases be hosted AFTER the IRC release by at least a few days.
5) Where can I buy manga?
Please see the links.
6) I have a question that is not on this list, where will I find an answer?
Try asking in the ShoutBox, the Yahoo! Group, or IRC.
7) What is the purpose of the Y! Group? Can I get downloads there?
The purpose of the Y! Group (Y!G) is to give people the chance to participate in the Condensation community without the need for IRC. All of our releases are announced on there, so you would get email notification when we do release (depending on the options you choose when you sign up). There is also an e-mail account that houses a number of our releases. Y!G members can use the REFER request system to get these releases emailed to them as well. Members can find information on our series, ask questions or volunteer their services! Important website updates are also posted to the Y!G so members who don't always visit the website, can find out what is going on, including free-for-all bandwidth depletion measures that happen every so often...
